This year the program offers two application periods in June and September.

Call for Papers - 7. Workshop Banken und Finanzmärkte

In a cooperation between the University of Vienna, the University of Augsburg and the Deutsche Bundesbank, the 7th Workshop "Banks and Financial Markets" is going to take place on October 26 and 27 in Eltville (GER). Ph.D. students and Post-docs are invited to take part in a call for papers.

Public Lecture with Mag. Markus Stadlmann: "Investing in the Future You Want".

You are invited on a lecture of Mag. Stadlmann, the Chief Investment Officer of Lloyds Banking Group, about responsible investing in global market securities.

Workshop "Regulation as a factor of systemic risk": Call for Papers

    Submissions of research papers on "preventing financial crises by improved regulation" were invited, for the workshop which was held at the University of Innsbruck on November 11-12, 2016.

    The main topic of the workshop deals with Regulation as a factor of systemic risk considering regulation as a potential cause of future financial crises.

    Registrations for the workshop were open on  www.oefg.at or  koch@oefg.at ,  open until 7. November. 

    6th Workshop: Banks and Financial Markets

    On 20. and 21. October, in Vienna, was held 6th Workshop, organised in cooperation between the University of Vienna, Deutsche Bundesbank, and the University of Augsburg. 

    The target group of this Workshop is young economists interested in research in banking and financial markets. The main aim is to provide them with a platform to exchange ideas, discuss recent contributions, start future research collaborations.

    CFA Research Challenge

    CFA Austria is participating again for the year 2016/2017 on the CFA Research Challenge, organised by CFA Institute, the largest association of investment professionals in the world.

    CFA Research Challenge is a student competition gathering students and professionals from all around the world. Students conduct in-depth analysis on a single company and produce a full equity research report. The final presentation is held to Panel of Industry Experts and Leaders. This unique opportunity offers real-life practice to students and a chance to gather new friendships and connections with CFA members, experts from the field and other participants.

    01.03.2016 - Seminar: High Frequency Trading in Forex Markets

    This semester the seminar "High Frequency Trading in Forex Markets" within the specializations Financial Markets and Financial Intermediation is offered by Professor Gehrig. It discusses the determinants of exchange rates with a particular emphasis of high speed trading at high frequency. The seminar is organized in cooperation with Thomson Reuters Austria.

    01.03.2016 - VGSF Course: Market Microstructure

    This semester Professor Gehrig offers the course Market Microstructure at the Vienna Graduate School of Finance. This course is intended for doctoral students to specialize in finance or economics. It provides an introduction into the microstructure of markets.

    07.05.2015 - RUMORS AND RUNS IN OPAQUE MARKETS: Evidence from the Panic of 1907

    The story of the run-up to the Global Crisis is, unfortunately, not an entirely new one. This column argues that regulators would do well to read up on the ‘Panic of 1907’. What quelled rumours and panicky behaviour back then still applies – maintaining market liquidity through measures that encourage transparency.
