Since the Great Financial Crisis the topics of trust and CSR, or generally ethics, are increasingly (re-) entering mainstream research in economics, finance and business. Witness the contributions of Benabou, Tirole (Economica 2010), Lins, Servaes, Tamayo (JF 2017), Servaes Tamayo (MS 2013), Guiso, Sapienza, Zingales (AER 2004, JF 2008, JFE, 2015), Borisov, Goldman, Gupta (RFS, 2016), Edmans (JFE 2011), Hart, Zingales (ECGI 2017)  among many others. We invite submissions of research papers on "preventing financial crises by improved regulation" for the workshop to be held at the University of Innsbruck on November 11-12, 2016.

The main topic of the workshop deals with Regulation as a factor of systemic risk considering regulation as a potential cause of future financial crises.

Please submit papers or extended abstracts electronically to conference-ibf@uibk.ac.at by September 15 th , 2016. Decisions on acceptance will be communicated by October 7 th, 2016.

We invite young academics (Ph.D. students and postdocs) dealing with theoretical or theoretically-founded empirical research on banks and financial markets to submit a paper or a project outline for presentation at the 6th Workshop Banks and Financial Markets taking place October 20th -21th 2016 at the University of Vienna’s Faculty of Business, Economics and Statistics. 

Submissions should be sent electronically to  Maria  Chiara Iannino (maria.chiara.iannino@univie.ac.at) until Monday, August 31st 2016.

Joint Seminar with the Finance Department of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, hosted by Finance Department of University of Vienna, will be held from 21. to 22. September 2016.

The Research Group on "Financial Crises" of the Österreichische Forschungsgemeinschaft and the Center for Accounting Research at the University of Graz invite submissions of research papers on the recent financial crises of the new millenium for a workshop on "Accounting, Information and Financial Crises" held at the University of Graz at November 4-5, 2015.

The 32nd Annual Conference of the European Association of Law and Economics (EALE) will be held from 17 to 19 September 2015 in Vienna, Austria at the University of Vienna, Law School and Economics Faculty. Contributions on Banking, European Union Law, and Psychology and the Law (including Neuroeconomics) are particularly welcome. In memory of the late Göran Skogh, "founding mother" of EALE, a special session will be organized with papers focusing on the law and economics of crime, insurance and enviromental policy. There are two awards available:

The Göran Skogh Award for the most promising paper presented and the open prize of EUR 3,000 for the best paper in the areas of "Tax Competition", "Tax Compliance" and/or "Law & Economics and the Financial Crises", with the prize fund kindly donated by Deloitte Austria.
